“Steve Reeves - the idol of celebrities and athletes - from Winston Churchill, James Dean and Willie Mays to Burt Reynolds, Sly Stallone, Arnold and Lou Ferrigno.

Reeves is still considered by most bodybuilding aficionados to be the most perfectly developed Mr America ever.

I recall asking Ben Weider (who has seen virtually every bodybuilder - champion and professional - in his 50 years as President of the IFBB) whom he considered to have the “greatest physique” of all time.

The speed of his reply was shocking, for his answer was instant:  “Steve Reeves”.

Reeves remains many things to the bodybuilding world.

It is safe to say that he is the most popular bodybuilder of all time, and will remain so until another bodybuilder can boast a cover and monthly series 50 years after retiring from competition - as Reeves did with All Natural Muscular Development magazine in the mid 50’s.” - John Little

- from the book “Dynamic Muscle Building with Steve Reeves, John Little and George Helmer
note - Steve Reeves opened the Hollywood door for many to follow such as Arnold, Lou, and others.

Steve was the number one box office draw in 1959 and the early 60’s with blockbuster movies such as “Hercules, Morgan the Pirate” and others.

Below is a picture taken today (July 7 2009) showing George Helmer in Joe Vitale’s gym delivering the ACTUAL Universal weight machine that Steve Reeves used for many, many years (up until his death in 2000) at his home gym in Valley Center near San Diego.

This actual Universal weight machine was shown with Steve Reeves in many books and magazine articles about Steve.

I’m going down to Joe’s this afternoon to film this amazing day, to workout and to go have a big steak with Joe and George afterwards.

As Joe and I enjoy Cuban cigars, George will share his 30 + years of memories and stories about Steve Reeves.

Life is simply amazing…
