Highlights of Scott and Joe’s Big Adventure!  It was all about fitness, marketing and meeting some great people!

Aug. 21st, 2008 - Joe Vitale and I boarded our Southwest Airline 737 headed to San Diego around 9am.

We were headed for the 1st Annual Steve Reeves Fitness and Film Festival in Steve’s hometown of Valley Center, Ca (just outside of San Diego).

Joe was going to pick up his new (to him) 1977 Jaguar XJS formerly owned by Mr America, Mr Universe, Mr World, Hercules, and business man, Steve Reeves.

Steve passed away in 2000. He was in his 70’s (he died from a aneurisym following a minor surgery)

But what a group of loyal friends he has still - to this day.

George, Dave, Milton, Sandra (his first wife) and others.

The event was held at the Harrah’s Rincon Casino in Valley Center.

Dave Morrow and David Matthews met us there to enjoy the event, brainstorm and talk marketing.

We had a blast!

*side note - we had dinner Thursday evening with the legend, Louise Hay. She owns a publishing empire with offices all over the world. She’s 81 years old and lives in San Diego in a magical top floor penthouse over looking the local park. What a treat and honor this was!

We ate dinner Friday night in the Pavilion room (prime rib, potato, asparagus, salad) and viewed rare home movies about Steve’s home life and career.

There were Steve Reeves medals, trophies, a section of the wall that he used to record his exercises, reps and poundages (see pics below), shirts, pics and on and on.

It was fascinating.

Saturday morning we took a bus to Steves 14 acre ranch that he purchased for 10 k back in the 50’s.

It was a working horse ranch, with stalls, and hay surrounded by rugged terrain.

There were palm trees, lemon, orange and avocado groves.

What a property!

We got to go inside his house (an original breakfast table was still there).

We got to see his former gym which was located in the garage.

There were about 60 people who attended this event.

They all were fascinated by this legend.

Saturday afternoon we attended a film seminar about Steve’s career and later we attended a bodybuilding seminar which covered Steve’s philosophy with some very personal stories about Steve and his friends sprinkled in.

Sunday we hung out by the pool at Harrah’s and relaxed.

Darren and Dave said they had a great time and learned a ton about marketing, promotion, info products, websites and more.

It was, of course, a blast to travel with Joe.

I’ve got to be one of the luckiest guys alive to be doing what I love, traveling to events like this, meeting folks like Darren and Dave and hanging out with the “King of Copy”, Joe Vitale!
